This project was recently completed in Davidson and it is the perfect example of what some paint and wallpaper can do! The kitchen functioned well in layout for these clients but it needed an update in color, as did the adjacent breakfast area and formal dining room.
It is no surprise that we all struggle with what colors to choose, whether or not our house looks dated, etc. This is the exact dilemma that these clients were having. Luckily, their home is beautiful! It just needed to be brought up to date a bit and lightened up in the color department.
We started with a palette that was common in the early 2000's.... warm white and beige and gold.... and those very swirly bronze light fixtures....
With the help of a little paint, new lighting and new quartz counters paired with a stunning marble backsplash, we brought this kitchen back to life!
We chose to add some interest to what could have been a boring all white kitchen, by painting the island a deep navy blue (SW In the Navy). It really makes the butcher block counters pop! The perimeter cabinets were painted a pale greige (SW Drift of Mist) so as to coordinate with both the warm floors and the white quartz counter tops. Beautiful glass light fixtures replaced the heavy bronze ones to keep the feel of the kitchen light and airy.
Simple changes in the breakfast area made a huge difference!
We reupholstered the dining chairs in a fun navy and gray fabric to coordinate with the new kitchen colors. The drapes got lighter and brighter in linen with the sophisticated touch of tape trim. And the statement light fixture went from dated to fabulous! (When it comes to chandeliers, the bigger the better to me!)
The adjacent formal dining room needed to be spruced up as well.
The built in china cabinets got a new coat of paint (SW Taupe Tone) while the walls got covered in this amazing paper. The furniture was fantastic and didn't have to be changed. But we got new drapes and a rug to match the new all covering.
